Last year, we took a huge leap of faith and expanded Operation Santa into a statewide initiative — and what an incredible experience it was! Watching Iowans rally around foster and kinship families to create meaningful, joy-filled Christmas memories was nothing short of inspiring.
In 2024, Operation Santa supported 2,616 kids from all 99 Iowa counties. Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and volunteers, every one of those children felt seen, valued, and celebrated.
We can’t wait to see the impact grow even further this year. With one week to go, we already have 2,301wish lists submitted— and many of those wish lists still need donors!
Join the movement that’s bringing Christmas joy to foster and kinship families across Iowa.
You can be the reason a child believes in the magic of Christmas. Here’s just a glimpse of the heartwarming feedback we received from families last year:
“We loved the morning and some 1:1 time with each kiddo, priceless! The extra activities and hands were much appreciated! The gifts help meet their wants and were spot on!”
-West Union Family
“My little girl said she’d never been to see Santa or had so many presents. What a huge help that was for us at Christmas with having five in placement. Thank you all so much.”
-Grinnell Family
“This event is such a blessing. It brings together families with siblings placed in different homes. It is a safe public place for birth parents to see their children.”
-Des Moines Family
“It was a very fun party and our kids loved the gifts. They especially loved that they were personalized and they got things they specifically asked for.”
-Cedar Rapids Family
“It was nice to meet other families in the same situation.”
-Washington Family
“Loved it all! It was so nice to walk into a place where you know every person there understands.”
-Des Moines Family
