Foster Parent Alumni Club

Your foster care journey may have changed. Your voice still matters

We Get It.

There are a lot of reasons people step away.

Sometimes life changes. Sometimes our families need a different kind of season. Sometimes the resources, time, or emotional capacity just aren’t there anymore. And sometimes, if we’re being honest, foster care simply hurts too much to keep carrying.

The decision to stop fostering can be necessary, loving, and responsible—even when it is incredibly difficult.

Once you’ve opened your home, your heart, and your life to a child in foster care, it can be hard to simply look away.

You’ve seen the hard parts. You’ve celebrated the reunifications. You’ve grieved the goodbyes. You’ve experienced the foster care system from a perspective that very few people ever will.

And we believe that experience still matters.

Walking away from fostering doesn't necessarily mean walking away from the mission.

What is the Alumni Club?

Foster SQUAD is exploring the creation of a Foster Parent Alumni Club—a community for people who have fostered in the past and want to stay connected, share what they’ve learned, and continue having a voice in the foster care community in whatever way makes sense for their current season of life.

This is not about asking you to start fostering again.

What Could this Look Like?

There's no one right way to be an alum.

We know life gets busy. Families change. And sometimes foster care is connected to experiences that are still painful.

You don't have to have hours of free time. You don't have to volunteer every month. You don't have to know exactly what you want your involvement to look like. Before we officially launch anything, we want to hear from the people who know foster care firsthand.

We’ve created a short survey to learn what you would want from an alumni community, what would make participation realistic, and what kinds of opportunities you would actually find meaningful.

Your feedback will help us shape what this becomes.

Have a voice in what comes next.

Whether you want to stay deeply involved, occasionally lend your experience, advocate for change, support current foster parents, or simply connect with people who understand your experience—we want to know what that could look like for you.

You may have stepped away from fostering.
You haven’t stepped away from the impact you made.
And your voice still matters.
